Which guitar would be better for me?
I'm looking to buy a guitar and so far I'm considering these two that i saw on craigslist. It will be my first electric guitar. I've been playing acoustic for 2 years now. I like to play sort of indie rock or alternative/garage rock like The Strokes but I play lots of different types.I am a girl so i am looking for a sort of smaller guitar but it doesn't have to be. I need advice from someone who knows about guitars. which guitar is better based on price and quality (comparatively).

93 FENDER SONIC DUO

Hello there,
As you may already know, the Duo Sonic is a short scale guitar. That means the frets are closer together than on say a Les Paul (24 3/4 inches) or a Stratocaster (25 1/2). For smaller hands, that will make it easier to reach down the neck.
I think (I did not check to see) Squier Classic Vibe has a 24 inch scale. That would be the same scale length as the Mustang and the Jaguar use. That particular Fender Duo Sonic says it has a 22.7 inch scale. I thought the Duo Sonic came in 22 and 24 inch scale lengths. Either that guy made a mistake measuring or I do not remember correctly. Normally I would say actual Fender over Squier any day. And that Fender Duo Sonic seems like a great buy. However, the Squier Classic Vibe series is truly great. Darn near as good as the Fender. Fender wanted to upgrade their Squier line and brought out the Classic Vibe. It is a close comparison quality wise. Toss up.
The condition and scale length would be the decisive factors in this case. Can't tell from the pictures. But if one is in much better condition than the other, I would choose the one in better condition. The scale length may be important to you if you have small hands. If the Fender does have a 22 inch scale, the frets will be closer together than even the 24 inch scale. If your hands are not really tiny, then you can play either. Both are about the same quality wise. I would go with the Fender. But whichever you choose, should be a very good guitar. Frankly these are so close, that you may end up choosing based on color.
If you like one more than the other, go with that. These are close enough that it does not matter which one you get.
