Mad Catz Fender Mustang for Rock Band 3

The game itself is only half the story. It is the controllers themselves that have caught the eye of many people and won the hearts of those who wish to rock. One of those controllers, the Mad Cats Fender Mustang, has garnered much interest in and of itself. While its only rival bills itself as a real guitar, which it is, the Mustang has many awesome features in its own right.

The Fender Mustang from Mad Catz is designed for those who wish to rock on a budget. This isn't a negative thing to say. The Squier version costs quite a bit more than the Mustang and outside of being a playable guitar without the game interface it brings little else to the table. All of the primary lessons and game play mechanics are available on the Mustang. The game is just as challenging and the skills acquired transfer to a real guitar readily.

The Mustang is a guitar that seems to be a strange marriage of the traditional button pressing plastic guitar and one made for grownups. Of course during its birth something went horribly right and instead of five buttons this hardcore controller has 102-buttons on its fret board. Each button represents the potential for a note or chord. The controller was designed specifically to encapsulate every possible sound a true six string guitar could make.

Despite the slick concept of playing a real guitar such as a Squier many people prefer the Mad Catz version for play on Rock Band 3 free. The main reasons are sex appeal, cost, and simplicity of play.

While, the controller isn't likely to convince anyone to take you home or lose you forever, it does look pretty cool. Between the buttons and the skill necessary to master them it is a definite improvement over the standard guitar.

The cost of this controller is cited as being nearly half that or so of the Squier version. The player can play the game perfectly well with it and transfer their skills to a real guitar later. This is a definite plus for many.

When it comes to simplicity of play the Mustang wins in the end as well. Many people find strings harder to transition to than buttons. This is true even if the buttons are spaced similarly to the strings. It might only be a psychological difference but it is a potent one.
